This charming tale is about a cheeky hare who brags that he can beat a slow-moving, unassuming tortoise in a race, without even trying. In fact, he is so confident that he takes a nap in the middle of the race. Of course, the hare sleeps for too long and the tortoise wins, much to the hare’s dismay.

As with all fables, children can also learn important lessons and the difference between right and wrong. The fable for The Hare and the Tortoise focuses on acting slowly and carefully, rather than quickly and carelessly. Children can learn that believing in yourself and working hard will pay off.
