Young Charlie Bucket lives in poverty with his parents and four grandparents. One day, he wins one of five golden tickets hidden in chocolate bars, granting him access to Willy Wonka’s mysterious chocolate factory. Inside, Charlie and a handful of other children tour the magical and sometimes perilous rooms: the chocolate river, the chewing gum room, the nut room, and more. Along the way, the other children’s flaws—greed, gluttony, selfishness—get them into trouble, but Charlie’s humility and goodness help him prevail. In the end, he inherits the factory and wins a bright future.
