Based on the classic story by Johanna Spyri, it follows Heidi, a cheerful girl who lives in the Swiss Alps with her grandfather and her friend Peter. When circumstances move her to live in Frankfurt and away from her beloved mountains, she grapples with homesickness and the challenge of adapting to a new life while longing to return to the place she loves.
