Set in Victorian England (London, 1876), Hetty is a feisty, red-haired orphan left at the Foundling Hospital. She lives with a foster family in the country until she’s old enough to go to school. As she grows, she faces the harsh regime of the hospital, misses her foster brother Jem, but also holds onto a bold dream: could her mother be someone unexpected from her past?
