Klaus: How Santa Claus Began reimagines the origin story of Santa Claus in a rustic, mythic world full of magic, danger, and folklore. The narrative follows Klaus — a lone man with his wolf companion — living under the rule of a totalitarian state that suppresses hope. When he embarks on a mission to bring joy, gift-giving, and myth back to a downtrodden people, he comes up against dark forces (including the Krampus) that try to snuff out his efforts. Drawing on traditions from Viking lore and Siberian shamanism, the story gives a darker, more epic twist to what most consider a gentle Christmas legend, exploring how myth, magic, and resistance intertwine.
