Twelve-year-old Lark Taylor accompanies her scientist mother and family on a research trip to Cambodia — but disaster strikes when their boat is ship-wrecked, and Lark finds herself stranded on a remote Cambodian island with only a baby gibbon as her companion. Alone against storms, blazing sun, jellyfish-infested waters, dwindling supplies and the wild island environment, Lark must use all her courage, resourcefulness and will to survive — and figure out how to make her way home.
