This book is about practice, written by a practitioner. It is not a primer on the learning of the subjects of law. It is about the profession of the law in Kenya in particular, and East Africa in general. This is because the acquisition of experience in the practice of law is a discipline discrete from the acquisition of knowledge in a school of law. These then are thoughts for those just entering practice and those in their first fifteen years in it. Then, if at all they find it useful, or even only conveniently brought together, for those in their third decade or more.
And finally, hopefully, there is something to savour perhaps even for those we respectfully
daily call ‘my Learned Senior’, in the courtroom.
