Ruff is a busy little dog who spends his day joyfully singing and doing chores—“Busy, busy, all day long, toodle‑oodle, that’s my song!” Everything changes when his work accidentally destroys the home of a mouse named Hubble. Feeling regretful, Ruff promises to build Hubble a new house. While waiting, Hubble knits, exercises, and plays his trumpet. Together, after building the shed and cleaning up, they meet Lottie, a small, disgruntled duck who crash‑lands in their pond after failing to keep up with migrating ducks. Ruff tries cheering her up with gifts like a sun hat, flower, and even a half‑eaten sausage, but nothing helps—until they offer her a home in his newly dug pond. By the end of the day, Ruff has made two new friends and fulfilled his wish for companionship.
