The Great Gatsby is set in the Roaring Twenties, a time of wealth, glamour, and excess in America. The story is narrated by Nick Carraway, who moves to Long Island and becomes fascinated by his mysterious and wealthy neighbor, Jay Gatsby. Gatsby is known for throwing lavish parties in hopes of reconnecting with Daisy Buchanan, a woman he loved years ago.

As Nick gets drawn into their world of luxury and desire, he uncovers the darker side of the American Dream—where obsession, deception, and tragedy lurk beneath the glittering surface. The novel explores themes of love, ambition, social class, and the pursuit of happiness, ultimately portraying the emptiness behind Gatsby’s dazzling facade.
