Alyss Heart is the rightful heir to the throne of Wonderland. When her treacherous aunt Redd seizes the crown and murders Alyss's parents, the young princess narrowly escapes through the Pool of Tears, finding herself in Victorian London. There, she is taken in by an aspiring author named Lewis Carroll, who misinterprets her story, turning it into a fantastical tale of whimsy. Meanwhile, Alyss's loyal bodyguard, Hatter Madigan, embarks on a perilous journey across our world to reunite with her and return her to Wonderland, where she must reclaim her throne and confront the evil Redd.
