The story follows Digory Kirke and his friend Polly Plummer, two children in London at the turn of the 20th century. After a series of experiments with magical rings crafted by Digory’s eccentric Uncle Andrew, the children are transported to other worlds.

In one, they awaken the powerful and dangerous witch Queen Jadis, who follows them back to London and causes chaos. Their adventures eventually take them to a newly forming land—Narnia—where they witness the majestic lion Aslan sing the world into creation.

The children must make choices between good and evil, temptation and responsibility. Digory, in particular, is tested when he is sent to fetch a magical apple, which ultimately shapes the destiny of Narnia and his own family.

This origin story explains how Narnia came into being, the appearance of the famous lamppost, and the beginnings of Jadis’s reign as the White Witch.
