Old Man Kangaroo is a vain creature who longs to be unique and admired by all. He visits three gods—Nqa, Nquing, and finally Nqong—who alone grants his wish by sending Yellow-Dog Dingo to pursue him relentlessly across Australia. During the chase, Kangaroo develops powerful hind legs and a tail, learning to hop rather than walk—but he quickly discovers that fame and difference come with unexpected consequences: it wasn’t the flattering recognition he imagined.
