One of Shakespeare’s most lyrical and philosophically rich late comedies. It tells the story of Prospero, the deposed Duke of Milan, stranded on a remote island with his daughter Miranda. Through magical arts, Prospero conjures a storm that shipwrecks his usurping brother and others, leading ultimately to reconciliation and forgiveness. After unveiling his wisdom and benevolence, he renounces his magic and returns to society.
