Merdyn the Wild, the world's greatest warlock (not a wizard), is banished to the 21st century due to his bad behavior. He meets Rose, an ordinary girl with an extraordinary wish: to fix her family. In exchange for Rose's help in navigating the modern world, Merdyn agrees to grant her a spell. However, their plans go awry as they encounter a series of humorous challenges, including hiding Merdyn in a shed and dealing with his magical mishaps.
