A group of teenagers face the inevitable changes of school, friendships, dating and growing up. The book uses a parable with four characters (Hem, Haw, Sniff and Scurry) who live in a maze and search for “cheese” (metaphor for what they want in life). When their cheese disappears, the story explores how they respond—whether by denial, fear or action—and then connects the parable to the teens’ own lives to help them adapt to change, stay positive and move forward.
